Process for becoming a member

1 Apply to become a Community Change Member

You can become a Community Change member in 3 different ways

  • Complete the form on our website under online application to become a member
  • Fill in the back two pages of our Community Change brochure which we will forward to you upon request. And return it to Community Change
  • Drop into our office and complete a membership application form

2 Send the application through to Community Change

3 All new applications for membership go to the Community Change Board.
You may find a short delay at this point as your membership can not be progressed until it has gone before the Community Change Board for approval. All applications go to the next Board meeting but if you have just missed one it may have to wait 4-6 weeks.

4 Notification of Membership Application

Everyone who applies to become a member of Community Change will receive written notification of the decision of the Community Change Board with regard to that request. It is rare for an application to be rejected unless the Board feels there would be a clear Conflict of Interest. You will also be informed which category of membership you have been granted.

5 What happens next?

Once you receive notification of successful application you will be put on our members database and will then receive all information and benefits of Community Change membership outlined in the Benefits of being a Community Change member section.

Who can become a Community Change Member?

Community Change has currently three categories of membership:

Group members: This category is for any voluntary or community organisation or group.  It ranges from small local groups to larger community organisations and networks and makes up the majority of the Community Change membership.  Group members have full voting rights and are entitled to nominate a representative from their organisation or group to stand for election on to the Community Change Board of Directors.

Individual members:  This category is open to any person aged 18 or over who supports the work of Community Change and who has relevant experience or skills to contribute to that work.  Individual members have the right to a vote and are eligible to be nominated to stand for election to the Community Change Board of Directors.

Associate members:  This category is for any statutory organisation, well wisher or person who wishes to be associated with Community Change as a member.  Associate members have the right to attend meetings but are not entitled to a vote.  They are not entitled to be represented on the Community Change Board of Directors.
