Partnership WorkingPartnership working is a way of working, which is strongly being promoted from government departments, statutory agencies and funders at the moment, which offers both challenges and benefits to those groups and organisations working in this way. It is important that Management Committees and Boards explore carefully the many aspects of partnership work for their group /organisation before entering into any form of partnership arrangement.

Community Change offers their independent facilitation and training services in the following areas to build skills and develop the capacity of voluntary committees and boards in various aspects of Partnership working such as:

  • Agreeing a common purpose
  • Understanding and agreeing the reason for working in Partnership
  • Exploring the pros and cons of Partnership working
  • Exploring different types of partnership working arrangements
  • Preparation for Partnership working
  • Developing a Partnership agreement
  • Implementing a Partnership Agreement
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of Partnership working

Some comments from groups worked with in this area:

  • We have learned that partnership works best with shared roles and values – this is a valuable piece of learning
  • We have looked at different roles within the partnership, discussed what this meant for us and made so necessary changes
  • A lot more to this than we realised
  • This process has really helped our partnership work and act together
  • A professional and humane approach by the facilitator
  • Worked hard, had a laugh but reached our goal

Community Change also provides “generic” training sessions which focuses on a general overview of any of the above topics. Groups attending can then request group specific facilitation and support in that area if they require it.
