Rural Women’s Programme

Women’s Resource and Development Agency (WRDA) and Community Change work jointly to increase participation of women in rural development work.

This involves working in partnership with rural support networks to:

• Provide training in facilitation skills
• Increase opportunities for volunteering
• Link women with networks to strengthen local infrastructure
• Increase the skills and confidence of women

Rural Womens Programme
We worked with North Antrim Community Network to train local women as community facilitators. The women are an additional resource in the North Antrim area, available to support groups in rural development work.We work with rural support networks, such as TADA (Tyrone, Armagh, Down & Antrim) to identify area-based tasks for our trained community facilitators to carry out in each area.

The Rural Women’s Programme organised a networking event for women from Ballymena council area. We asked Portglenone Enterprise Group to host it because of their interest in addressing the needs of women. As a result, community facilitators delivered a series of taster sessions, and a new women’s group was formed.
